Remembering Canada's Heroes

A shadow draws darkness upon the province of Saskatchewan as family, friends and fans come to terms with the death of Sandra Schmirler. It is not often that a whole community, a whole province, a whole country and the whole world mourns the loss of one person.
Many of these people never met the Olympic champion but still feel like they have lost a friend. For those like myself, who did not have the honour of knowing her, she was a friend whose bright smile transcended the pictures and television broadcasts into our lives and hearts.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing my first live Telemiracle. I used to see it as an interruption to my regularly scheduled programming. Once in awhile, somebody I knew would sing. So I would tune in for five minutes, then flip to Much Music. But when you see it live, it gives you a whole new perspective. Letter: Reaction to 'Band Dropped' Story
Thomas Smith
Congratulations to the Feminist Action Committee in their decision to not allow Real Slow Drag to perform during the Women's Mosaic based on the band having two men. They took a chance to show everyone what they are all about and instead confirmed what most people think they are all about: women who hate men.

M. Frey
To claim that this article was not a personal attack against particular members of the Feminist Action Committee would be a gross understatement. FAC is a student organized and operated committee which seeks to enhance equality of opportunity for women and to educate and inform of women's struggles in a traditionally patriarchal society.
