Campion College hosts an examination of the Crusades

The 22nd Annual Nash Memorial Lecture, "Approaching Jerusalem: The Legacy of the Crusades in the 21st Century", took place before a crowded Riffel Auditorium at Campion College Thursday night. Experts in the history of the Crusades, Dr. Penny J. Cole and Dr. Hadia Dajani-Shakeel spoke at the event that honours former Campion president Dr. E. Peter W. Nash.

Well, the results are in and itıs an average year at University of Regina Studentsı Union (URSU). With 740 students turning out to vote, it was an average year, no one was surprised with the turn out.

World-renowned feminist economist to lecture at U of R

Author, economist, lecturer, social policy analyst and farmer, Dr. Marilyn Waring will be speaking Thursday, March 9, in the Education Auditorium at 8pm. In 1975 Waring became the youngest member of the New Zealand Parliament at the age of 22. During her nine years in public office she served on many committees and chaired the Public Expenditures Committee.

Amnesty International pulls out of International Women's Day celebrations

"We were all set to perform and had rehearsed our skit about the whole Amnesty Campaign trying to stop violence against women worldwide," said Susan McQuarrie, a member of Amnesty International (AI). Recently several members of the Regina Chapter of AI decided not to perform at the International Women's Mosaic being held on March eighth in support of Real Slow Drag, a local band who's members were told that, since their band consisted of men, they could not perform in the event.

You would think that, comprising one of the largest faculties on campus, arts students would have an equally strong representative voice. And, you would be wrong. There is no student group that collectively represents the students in the Faculty of Arts on campus and this is a situation that Mark Cooper wants to change.

SIFC students absent at national conference

The aboriginal members of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) held their caucus meeting at the University of Regina last weekend, but local aboriginal students were noticeably absent. The Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (SIFC) located at the U of R has refused involvement with the federation for a number of years, and the aboriginal caucus meeting in Regina was intended to attempt to draw SIFC back into CFS.
