Students behind Rams

With the Rams' Atlantic Bowl win Saturday, students from the University of Regina have been swept up with school spirit. Fans of the football team have been supportive all year but are slowly becoming more and more frenzied as the Vanier Cup draws closer. There is great pride among the student body as the team continues its dream season in only its second year of existence.

Third-year Business Administration student Jason Horsman is one of those students rallying behind the team. "It's freakin' amazing. It's an incredible sports story. Any team that can go 0-8 one year, and to the National Championships the next is a deadly story. It's nice to have people that you have classes with going to a championship. It strengthens the spirit within the school and the community."

Sarah Gartner, a first-year Campion Science student, agrees. "I'm not a big football fan by any means, but it's cool. For a little school like ours to make it to a final is great. It's good for the school. It gives it a bit of public exposure."

Super-fan and captain of the Mexican Long Snapping team (some of the Ramsą most hardcore fans) Allan Pulga, who is majoring in Sciences, is elated to see his friends going on to the Vanier Cup. "It's awesome. No team in CIAU history has gone from 0-8 to the Vanier Cup. It's a total Cinderella story. It's unbelievable. They've been underdogs the whole year, let alone the playoffs. Going to the Vanier Cup is just out of this world."

Third-year Political Science student Nick Bonokoski went out on a limb to predict the Rams will win the championship.

"They're gold, baby. Golden Boys! That Leason fellow is going to eviscerate the Gee Gee defense. Wait, I can't forget about Hughes. That kid would have won the Hec Creighton (CIAU MVP award) had he not gotten hurt. Coach McCrystal has done some incredible things with this team.

They're going to win and I'm not just talking December 2nd. I'm talking dynasty here baby, dynasty!"
