by Greg Urbanoski the Carillon The University of Regina Cougars Womens’ Basketball team has brought back a winner from the past to help them build for the future. Cymone Bouchard, who played for the Cougars from 1999-2004, has rejoined the Cougars as an assistant coach for the 2005-06 season. Bouchard, who was the 2004 Nan Copp Award Winner and 2004 U of R Most Outstanding Female Athlete, played professional basketball last season in Denmark, but decided not to return to her professional team. “I am very excited to have Cymone begin her CIS coaching career with me and with the Cougars,” said Cougar coach Jeff Speedy. “She truly wants to become a CIC women’s basketball coach and I am going to do everything I can to help make that happen for her. At the same time, I know she will be a very valuable member of our staff. She will really help the young players learn what it takes to be successful at the CIS level and she has a very good grasp of the game, so I am looking forward to her technical input as well.” |
