Cougars ranked #1 in Canada

The Cougar Womens basketball team scored one win and one loss at the Northern Lights Tournament in Havre, Montana. The team lost 91-71 to the Montana Skylights on Friday night, and defeated Rocky Mountain University 78-64 on Saturday.

Hockey season in review

Twelve games and three points to show for it. It probably wasn't how Bill Liskowich envisioned the season, but like it or not, he's got to live with it. Only, in this case, it wasn't that they were losing games because of other teams' having a better game than they were.

Eyes on sport

Blades cutting, bodies crashing, sticks slapping and pucks shooting - herein lies the true grit of the game. Hockey. Its roots lie in quiet rural communities, on makeshift backyard rinks and frozen ponds. Children's icy breath hastily picking teams in the crisp early morning fog.

We begin this week by congratulating Sheldon Kennedy on his return to hockey. He is currently playing with the Manitoba Moose of the International Hockey League. Hope to see him in the ³show² soon. Pats¹ coaches Tim Tisdale and Chad Mercier have been signed through June of 2000. Mercier is a former Pats¹ goalie ³extraordinaire². He led the Pats through an exciting playoff just three years ago. The Pats are 9-7-0 under the tandem.

Hockey Preview

BRANDON The Bobcats played last weekend against the U of Manitoba, losing by scores of 6-5 and 6-2. They gave up a total of 85 shots while firing only 39 at Manitoba for the weekend. Now THAT's the Bobcat team we've come to know and love.

Rams close out an era

The Regina Rams closed out their junior life by handing out their team awards last Friday at Holy Child Hall. The awards banquet allowed the Rams to celebrate the 1998 season which resulted in their 15th and final Canadian Junior Football League Championship.

Venue Review

The Agridome is the home of the Regina Pats, this city's Western Hockey League team. The arena is an attractive spot to take in the action. With excellent lines of sight, comfortable seats, and well placed lights, watching a game is a relaxing experience. Except for the home team blowing three goal leads, of course.
