News: Local groups make poverty history Sports: Rams serve notice to T-birds

What began as a centennial showcase of African culture turned into a successful anti-poverty event, held last week at Wascana Park.
The gazebo in Wascana Park was the centre of all things anti-poverty on Sept. 10, as the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC), in conjunction with the African Association of Regina, organized Regina’s white band day.

What a difference a week makes.
After falling 44-7 to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies last week, there were many in Rams Nation wondering if the 2005 season would be a repeat of the 2004 season.

Arts: Green gets Naked Editorial: I wish they wanted to suck my blood

With a microphone stand in hand, she battled angry wasps to conquer the University of Regina Academic Green, and she did it in heels.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, the U of R hosted the largest concert in the university’s history. Naked on the Green featured Vancouver’s Bif Naked, fresh from tour dates with Nickelback, Billy Idol and Austin Texas’ Grady.

When some people are bored, they watch TV. Others read a book, or go shopping. When I get bored, though, I pierce things. It’s not uncommon for me to grab a safety pin and shove it through my ear, just for sheer lack of productive things to do. When I’m bored and have money burning a hole in my pocket, I’ll splurge and get some cartilage punched out, or get a tattoo. Along with the need to decorate my body, though, comes a sense of guilt, because I have a rare blood type. Each time this type of boredom ensues, it unfortunately sets back the date of my next blood donor appointment.
