Summer jobs hard to find

Student unemployment across Canada this summer was the highest it has been in almost ten years, according to Statistics Canada. Unemployment among 15-to 24-year-olds was 19.7%, down 2.9 percentage points from last summer. Increasingly, the jobs that students do obtain are part-time; 51.5% of students were held part-time jobs in August 1997, compared to less than 40% ten years ago.
